Archetype Entertainment founders James Ohlen and Chad Robertson answered players’ questions about the non-linear sci-fi third-person action role-playing game Exodus in a new video on the studio’s channel.
In the story of Exodus, people have left the dying Earth and are fighting for survival in the Centauri Cluster. The protagonist June Aslan is a Traveler in whom the DNA of a human and a Celestial (the main enemy of humanity) is mixed.
Olen said that Jun will have a written character: “You will be able to make decisions, participate in drama-filled, fully voiced cutscenes. Without [a character with a personality], it’s hard to pull it off.”
Travelers are engaged in stealing advanced technology from the Celestials. For agents, these interstellar missions last a few days, but for people at home, they last decades. This effect is called time dilation.
According to Robertson, not all decisions in the game involve slowing down time, but each choice will be part of the character’s development process. Some actions will create a domino effect with delayed consequences.
Olen added that Matthew McConaughey’s character C.C. Orlev will play an important role in Exodus. Details are still under wraps, but the phrase “yesterday, today and tomorrow” contains a clue to his identity.
Exodus is being created for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. There is no release date, but the developers have already planned a gameplay show (when it will take place is not disclosed). The team promises to return in December with a new piece of information about the game.
