Specialists striving for professional growth are constantly learning new things. However, relying solely on willpower to study may not be effective.
It is important to understand how motivation works and create favorable conditions for achieving goals. This approach will not only make learning easier, but also make it more productive and deliberate, helping to maintain interest and energy.
- Lack of a supportive environment. This is especially important for long-term learning. Classes must be included in the schedule and systematically devote time to them – otherwise there will always be something more important and urgent. If loved ones do not provide support, you can seek advice and help from professional communities.
- Fear of difficulties. If you do not approach your education or career consciously enough, there is a risk that you will give up at the first difficulties. Having high expectations for yourself can also be harmful.
- Wrong direction. Sometimes, a person pursues an imposed goal. For example, when moving to IT, the motivation may be solely to increase income – this can lead to disappointment in the chosen path.
- Inappropriate difficulty level. The training can be either too simple or too complex. In the first case, you will be bored, and in the second, there is too little positive reinforcement to maintain motivation.
✅Remind yourself of the original goal. Why did I decide to study, can it change my life for the better? If the answer is “yes,” you will immediately find that the effort is worth making. The next step will be to change the infrastructure of your life, build a convenient schedule and integrate training into it.
✅Delegate other responsibilities. To integrate your studies into your schedule, sometimes it’s worth delegating some other things. For example, ask your spouse to pick up the children from kindergarten and devote the free time to studying.
✅Be prepared to put some things aside for a short time. Sometimes, for example, when completing a course project, you have to devote more time to studying. At such times, you will most likely have to postpone meeting with friends or give up entertainment in favor of studying.
✅Give up the illusion that you can learn “in between.” It happens that we put off doing homework, taking a training simulator, etc. until we take the subway to work, for lunch break, or some other short period of time. Microlearning is a good thing, but there is always a risk that a person will not have time to immerse himself sufficiently in the material, and the study will not bring the desired results.
