Along with the new all-in-one iMac, Apple introduced updated versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Trackpad. All accessories now feature a USB-C charging port instead of a Lightning one. Apple included the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard with the new iMacs. Magic Trackpad can be purchased separately.
«Every iMac comes with a color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and an optional Magic Trackpad, which now includes a USB-C port. Users can charge these accessories with a single cable,” Apple wrote in its press release.
It seems that the accessories do not offer any other changes besides the transition to USB-C. This means that the Magic Mouse still cannot be used while charging, as the charging port is located at the bottom of the device.
You can separately purchase a Magic Keyboard with a number pad and Touch ID, as well as a version of the keyboard with Touch ID, but without a number pad. The company is also continuing to sell the older version of the Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad, equipped with a Lightning charging port. However, it does not have a Touch ID button. All other accessories with a Lightning connector have been discontinued.
