Apple has released the first beta version of iOS 18.2 for developers, which, in addition to new features in Apple Intelligence, will delight iPhone users with easier management of standard applications. One of the most noticeable changes was the appearance of a special section in the settings that allows you to select your preferred applications for calls and messages.

Now users around the world will be able to manage their default applications through the “Default Applications” section, which can be accessed through the “Settings” menu. Next, in the Applications menu, you can select the most commonly used ones, such as email, browser, keyboard, and for the first time, applications for calls and messages will be available for customization.

The set of available categories may vary depending on the user’s region. For example, in the US, the following categories are available in the beta version of iOS 18.2: email, messages, calls, call filtering, browser, passwords and codes, keyboard. In European Union countries, additional options may be available due to local regulations. Note that Apple did this at the request of local regulatory authorities, providing more options for customizing devices.

Currently, the iOS 18.2 beta is only available on devices that support Apple Intelligence features. However, in future updates, it is expected that a new section for flexible default application settings will be available for iPhones without AI functions.
