On the way to release, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt lost a number of elements originally planned for it, including the ending section. Modder FreakVIp managed to restore the reputation system that was cut by CD Projekt Red.

The Reputation System modification, published by FreakVIp on the Nexus Mods platform, restores CDPR’s idea: Geralt’s behavior and decisions now affect his reputation in different regions, which is reflected in many activities in the game.

Hunting monsters, winning races, and clearing out bandit camps rewards you with reputation points, while stealing or attacking guards takes them away. Actions during story and side quests also matter.

There are five reputation levels in total: hatred (0−15 points), dislike (16−40), neutrality (41−60), sympathy (61−80) and respect (81−100). In all five main regions, including Toussaint, Geralt starts the game from the middle of the scale (50).

Reputation in a particular corner of the game world affects the prices of sales and purchases from merchants, the multiplier for winning bets (lower level means less winnings) and trading with merchants (higher level means you can negotiate for a larger amount).

The mod works with the current version of The Witcher 3, but the author cannot guarantee compatibility with older versions due to the labor-intensive process. But even in its current form, the project was a pleasant surprise. “I’ve wanted this mod since the game was released,” shared jeFFizonX.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released more than nine years ago, but is still popular, including among modders. Not least thanks to the recently released official mod editor REDKit.
