Chinese company DJI Technology Co. filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Defense. The world’s largest drone manufacturer intends to achieve its exclusion from the US sanctions list, which it was included in for allegedly collaborating with the Chinese army. It is noted that DJI tried for more than 16 months to establish contact with the US Department of Defense pre-trial, but this was not possible.
«DJI decided it had no alternative but to seek relief in federal court. DJI is not owned or controlled by the Chinese military, and the Department of Defense itself acknowledges that DJI produces consumer and commercial drones, not military ones,” a company spokesperson said.
The US Department of Defense regularly updates the list of Chinese military companies subject to various economic restrictions in order to prevent Beijing from gaining access to advanced technologies developed by companies that are “masquerading as civilian organizations.” Current legislation allows the Department of Defense to identify such companies operating directly or indirectly in the United States. DJI was included in the military department list back in 2022 and continues to remain on it until the latest update in January of this year. US companies are prohibited from doing business with organizations on this list.
