What the Dragon Age games have always had in abundance are spiders of different colors and sizes. Dragon Age: The Veilguard, coming out at the end of October, however, will go in a different direction.
It all started with the publication by BioWare of an article about settings and special features in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Users noticed that among those listed there is no option for arachnophobes.
Games help cope with the fear of spiders in different ways: World of Warcraft replaces them with crabs, Satisfactory with images of cats, Lethal Company with a three-dimensional inscription “SPIDER”. The authors of The Veilguard have found an even more effective solution.
As BioWare community manager blackhairvioleteyes reported in response to a Reddit user, Dragon Age: The Veilguard does not have an arachnophobe mode because there are no spiders in the game.
Thus, the final version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard did not include a spider with human arms (see screenshot below), a test model of which was shown in a behind-the-scenes video from gamescom 2020.
In other words, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be the first game in the series without spiders in it. Reddit users were divided on the issue: some were happy with the changes, while others believed that the franchise only lost from it.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October 31 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Last Friday, BioWare announced that the game has already gone gold, so no transfers are expected.
