The “Around Builds Metro 2033|Last Light|Exodus” community, which studies the history and various builds of games in the Metro series, shared on Telegram supposedly insider details of the next part of the franchise from the studio 4A Games.
According to the administration of “Around Build Metro 2033|Last Light|Exodus”, the events of the new Metro will unfold exclusively in Moscow, and the main character will not be Artyom Cherny (the protagonist of previous parts).
The game will supposedly have large levels (including with familiar locations) and the ability to periodically return to underground metro stations, but there is no talk of a full-fledged open world.
According to information from Around Builds of Metro 2033|Last Light|Exodus, 4A Games planned a large open world for the game, but technical difficulties forced the team to abandon the idea – production was restarted in 2022.
The team has supposedly been updated – there are almost no veterans of the development of previous parts in 4A Games (art director Sergei Karmalsky is mentioned). “Some of the authors of the book series” are also involved in the project. The announcement is expected in 2025.
In addition, in “Around Builds Metro 2033|Last Light|Exodus” they posted an image of the Reichites attributed to the new Metro. The administration confirmed the authenticity of the screenshot – it is displayed when the 4A Engine starts.
4A Games is working on two AAA games – the next Metro was confirmed in 2020, and the second, according to the community, is the space shooter Eolla, which allegedly returned to active development at the end of 2023.
