Dragon Age: The Veilguard development director will leave BioWare after 18 years at Electronic Arts

Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb and the Eurogamer portal, citing their sources, reported that the lead developer of last year’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard is leaving the Electronic Arts studio BioWare.

We are talking about Corinne Busche, who since February 2022 served as the head of development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and, together with creative director John Epler, brought the problematic game to release.

Boucher joined BioWare in 2019, having spent 13 years previously working for fellow Electronic Arts studio Maxis, where she had a hand in creating several The Sims games, including the newest fourth installment.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard received mixed reviews from critics and users. Sales of the game have not been disclosed, but according to Eurogamer, Boucher’s decision in any case has nothing to do with the financial results of the project.

Amid reports of Boucher’s departure, there were rumors that Electronic Arts management was allegedly going to close the BioWare office in Edmonton, but Grubb’s and Eurogamer’s sources denied this information.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released on October 31, 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. In the story, the heroes will have to gather the Guardians of the Veil and fight back the ancient elven gods who are obsessed with destroying the world.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will definitely not receive any expansions. BioWare has already switched “entirely” to the new Mass Effect. It is assumed that the space RPG is still several years away from release – the release is expected no earlier than 2026.
