Half a month has already passed since the beginning of 2025, and the promised new patch and development plan for the post-apocalyptic shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl still not there. GSC Game World commented on the growing dissatisfaction of fans.
In a thread on the Reddit forum regarding GSC Game World’s prolonged silence regarding future S.T.A.L.K.E.R. updates. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, one of the studio’s community managers spoke out.
According to Nikita Gorodivsky, known on Reddit as Kenny_PropheT (Super_PropheT on Steam), the next patch for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be released “relatively soon”, and a full patch will be released before the end of February.
Gorodivsky also explained the delay in publishing the plan for further support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl difficulties in determining when future updates will be released. Putting together such a schedule, he added, is “a very difficult thing.”
«A lot can go wrong: testing fails or new problems appear. A little later we will share, as promised, the company’s plan for this year,” Gorodivsky assured the fans.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was released on November 20, 2024 on PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store, EGS), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Sales in two days after the release exceeded 1 million copies – according to the co-owner of GSC, the game has already paid for itself.
The success of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl confronted GSC with a “new reality” (the studio now has a “very large audience”) and will allow elements cut during development to be added to the game (which ones exactly are still unclear).
