Announced last winter, the adaptation of the interactive horror film Until Dawn from the Supermassive Games studio until recently did not have the slightest details, but now it has received an informative teaser.

Until Dawn was about a group of teenagers returning to a secluded mountain cabin where two of their comrades disappeared a year ago. The fate of all eight central characters directly depended on the player’s decisions.

As part of last week’s Consumer Electronics Show 2025 (CES 2025), it turned out that the film adaptation of Until Dawn will not be a retelling of the original game: the film will have a different story and characters.

In the film, a group of young people find themselves in an abandoned tourist center, where they are killed by a masked maniac. The heroes wake up that evening and are forced to relive the nightmare over and over again. The only salvation is to survive until dawn.

According to director David F. Sandberg, after each death, the characters find themselves in a different subgenre of horror: the threat changes, and the number of revivals is limited.

Screenwriter Gary Dauberman believes that the film continues the story of the game, but fans of the original source in the comments to the video do not agree with him: in their opinion, Until Dawn in the film adaptation is the same name.

The film based on Until Dawn will be released in American theaters on April 25. The published teaser is a “First Look”, and the premiere of the first full trailer for the film adaptation is expected in the near future.
