The Minisforum company, according to the NAS Compares resource, presented an interesting new product – NAS N5 Pro in a “desktop” form factor with high-performance hardware. The device carries on board the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (Strix Point) processor, which combines 12 cores (24 threads) with a base clock speed of 2 GHz and the ability to boost up to 5.1 GHz. The chip includes an AMD Radeon 890M graphics accelerator and the AI Engine.
Minisforum N5 Pro network storage is equipped with two SODIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB DDR5-5600. Five LFF/SFF drive bays with SATA-3 interface are available with a capacity of up to 22 TB each. In addition, there are three slots for NVMe SSD: one M.2 2230/2280 PCIe 4.0 x1, U.2/M.2 2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x1 and U.2/M.2 2280/22110 PCIe 4.0 x2. The first of these connectors can accommodate a drive with a capacity of up to 4 TB, and the other two – up to 15 TB. Thus, in the maximum configuration, the NAS offers 144 TB of space.
The new product has a PCIe x16 (PCIe 4.0 x4) expansion slot and an OCuLink 4i x1 (PCIe 4.0 x4) port. There is one 10GbE and 5GbE network port with RJ45 connectors, two USB4 ports (40Gbps; DisplayPort Alt Mode), three USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A (10Gbps), USB 2.0 Type-A port, HDMI 2.0 interface, and audio jack 3 .5 mm. Power (19 V / 12.63 A) is supplied via the DC connector.
It is noted that the motherboard is located on a removable module, which simplifies maintenance or updating of installed components. On the front of the NAS there is a translucent decorative panel with magnetic fastening.
