The French Wolcen Studio, which in 2024 ceased development and support of its fantasy role-playing slasher Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, presented a new project – Project Pantheon. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser trailer.
Project Pantheon is positioned as a hybrid of isometric action RPGs and evacuation shooters, or, as Wolcen Studio puts it, “what would happen if Diablo and Escape from Tarkov had a baby.”
In other words, Project Pantheon is a fusion of the fast-paced combat of action RPGs and the intense, risky mechanics of evacuation shooters: “A mixture of two different, exciting types of gameplay.”
Project Pantheon will take place in a post-apocalyptic universe inspired by Norse mythology. Players, under the orders of Death, must travel to the afterlife and restore order to a fragmented reality.
Users will explore various locations, fight in dynamic PvPvE battles, try to evacuate with acquired loot, upgrade their secret fortress, experiment with equipment and trade with other players.
It is reported that Project Pantheon will be a shareware game-service. Development has been going on for more than a year, and by now the project has reached the early “alpha” stage. Wolcen plans to involve the community in product development.
At this stage, Project Pantheon is only confirmed for PC (the Steam page is not active yet). Closed alpha testing will take place on January 25 and 26 for European players, and on February 1 and 2 for American players.
