On Friday evening, January 10, the first full content season started in the free-to-play hero shooter Marvel Rivals. The release of the debut set of content and activities, called Eternal Night Falls, helped the project set a new record for the number of concurrent players on Steam.
According to the analytical resource SteamDB, on January 11 at 06:00 Moscow time, 644,269 people were simultaneously playing Marvel Rivals. This is a new record for a shooter that was released a month ago. In terms of all-time peak online numbers, the new product from NetEase Games has already surpassed Apex Legends (624,473 people) and Path of Exile 2 (578,569 people).
The Eternal Night Falls season is divided into two parts. As part of the first phase, players received access to only two heroes (Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman) out of four announced. Later, the Human Torch and the Thing will appear. Characters are available for free, but you must pay to access their alternate appearances.
Marvel Rivals was released on December 6 on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The shooter is similar in design to Overwatch 2, but only with a third-person view and Marvel characters.
