In the market of computer equipment for corporate use, Dell Technologies occupies one of the leading positions in the United States. At the same time, the use of AMD processors by this manufacturer has so far been limited to the server segment and workstations, but the emergence of promising Ryzen AI Pro chips convinced Dell to start offering computers based on them to corporate clients.
As CRN notes, AMD announced the start of cooperation with Dell in this area at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, which was held this week. The Dell Pro family of laptops and desktop PCs, according to AMD representatives, will begin to be equipped with Ryzen AI Pro 300 series processors introduced last year and more modern models in the mass segment. The presence of a special neural network acceleration unit (NPU) in AMD processors ensures compatibility with the requirements of Microsoft Copilot+ PC and allows for acceleration of local work with artificial intelligence systems.
AMD Ryzen AI Pro processors provide additional security and management features that are demanded in enterprise environments. Last year, the AMD Pro Technologies complex acquired the second generation of the AMD Secure Processor coprocessor and the Cloud Bare Metal Recovery function. In the third quarter of last year, AMD managed to take a record 23.9% of the x86-compatible central processor market. According to Dell representatives, they were forced to adopt the new AMD processors by the progress demonstrated by these chips in terms of supporting modern technologies.
