The SK Group chairman said he met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on the sidelines of the CES 2025 international electronics show and shared the latest advances in the development of HBM4 memory.

SK hynix, which is the most valuable asset of SK Group, is engaged in the development and production of memory chips. It was previously reported that the speed of development of a new generation of HBM memory chips for tasks related to artificial intelligence did not satisfy the management of Nvidia, with which SK hynix maintains close cooperation. After this, the company promised to speed up the process. During a press conference at the SK Group booth in Las Vegas, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said that the development of the new HBM4 memory is now progressing even faster than Nvidia required. However, he added that the situation may change in the future.

Chey Tae Won also noted that he discussed with Huang Nvidia’s latest achievements in the development of the new Cosmos platform, designed to create humanoid robots, which was presented earlier this week. According to the chairman of SK Group, the head of Nvidia emphasized that South Korea has a strong position in the manufacturing sector and extensive experience in this field.

SK hynix is currently the main supplier of HBM memory to Nvidia, which uses it in its artificial intelligence accelerators.
