The debut trailer for The Witcher 4 began with a warning that it was pre-rendered on an unannounced Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card. Now everything secret has become clear.
Against the backdrop of the announcement of the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics accelerators at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 (CES 2025), Nvidia confirmed what everyone had already guessed.
«The hotly anticipated sequel, The Witcher 4, recently debuted with a stunning trailer, which we can now confirm was pre-rendered in Unreal Engine 5 on the GeForce RTX 5090,” Nvidia said.
Of course, advertising the preliminary rendering of The Witcher 4 trailer on the RTX 5090 is just a marketing ploy, because this process could have been carried out with the same success (only it would have taken more time) on a weaker video card.
In a post for the official GeForce blog dedicated to the announcement of DLSS 4 smart scaling technology, Nvidia also said that it has been collaborating with CD Projekt Red from the very beginning of development of The Witcher 4.
Exactly when The Witcher 4 will be released is still unclear, but Nvidia assures that when it does, the game will boast the company’s latest RTX-based technology (which is not specified).
CD Projekt Red has said in the past that the trailer is based on the same technologies that the game will be based on, so in theory The Witcher 4 should look no worse than in the said cinematic.
