Micron introduced a new SSD at CES 2025 and showed 64 GB DDR5 modules

Micron has updated its Crucial line by releasing the P510 SSD with PCIe 5.0 interface and increasing the memory capacity for DDR5 modules to 64 GB. The P510, unveiled at the global technology show CES 2025 as a major new product, promises high PCIe 5.0 speeds and low power consumption.

The main focus during the development of the P510 was on improving energy efficiency. According to company representatives, the new SSD consumes 25% less energy compared to previous PCIe 5.0 drives in this class. While the specific model used for comparison was not named, the T705 and T700 are known to consume a maximum of 12.3W and 11.5W respectively. Thus, the P510 can achieve maximum power consumption ranging from 8.6 W to 9.2 W, which is especially important for increasing battery life in laptops. Micron has confirmed the use of a “new, more energy-efficient architecture” for the SSD controller, presumably the E31T.

The company has also expanded its DDR5 RAM lineup with new density options. Crucial DDR5 Pro Overclocking modules are now available in a 32 GB version (previously 16 GB). Also announced is the start of sales of 32 GB and 64 GB CUDIMM modules and 25 GB and 32 GB CSODIMM modules, limited to DDR5-6400 frequency. For traditional UDIMMs and SODIMMs, the company will offer options with a capacity of 64 GB and a frequency of DDR5-5600. Thus, Micron expands the options for users by offering a wider selection of higher-capacity RAM.

In addition to the P510, the company has updated the P310 model by releasing a variant with a radiator. The new heatsink was designed to be smaller in size for use in tight spaces such as the PlayStation 5. The P510 SSD is expected to ship this spring, while the P310 with the heatsink will be available this month. Higher-density RAM modules will hit the market in February.
