AMD’s Fire Range mobile processors, known as the Ryzen 9000HX series, are mobile versions of the desktop Ryzen 9000 chips designed for powerful gaming laptops and mobile workstations. The series also includes one model with additional 3D V-Cache memory.

Fire Range processors are equipped with two CCD (Core Complex Die) computing units based on Zen 5 architecture, and an I/O Die chiplet with I/O interfaces. The configuration of the crystals here is exactly the same as that of desktop models.

Ryzen AI Max 300 mobile processors belong to the Strix Halo family. They are large APUs with two chiplets with compute cores, as well as a huge I/O die that houses integrated graphics with up to 40 compute units, as well as an AI accelerator (NPU).

Ryzen AI Max processors are not limited to the low TDP levels typical of mobile chips. The power consumption level can be adjusted by the manufacturer in the range from 45 to 120 W, which makes them suitable for both powerful laptops and compact but productive desktop computers.

The new Ryzen AI 300 family Krackan Point and Ryzen 200 family Hawk Point Refresh are designed for affordable, but highly productive laptops.

Krackan Point, in fact, is a “stripped-down” version of the Strix Point chips released last year with fewer Zen 5 processing cores (six instead of eight). The chips received up to eight execution units of integrated graphics RDNA 3.5.

In turn, Hawk Point Refresh is equipped with Zen 4 computing cores and integrated RDNA 3 graphics. Both series of processors are assembled on the basis of monolithic crystals, which makes it somewhat difficult to distinguish them visually. Krackan chips are wider, while Hawk Point Refresh have a smaller area.

Following in the footsteps of the world’s fastest gaming processor, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the new Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D promise not only outstanding gaming performance, but also high efficiency in work and creative tasks. Equipped with 16 cores, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D is said by AMD to be 20% faster in games and 10% faster in workloads compared to the flagship 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D models have the same design of two CCD chiplets, under one of which there is a chip with additional 3D V-Cache memory, as well as a large chip with I/O interfaces.

As previously announced, Ryzen 9000HX (Fire Range) processors will debut in the first half of 2025, Ryzen AI Max 300 (Strix Halo) chips will become available in the first and second quarters of this year, Ryzen AI 300 (Krackan Point) chips are expected in the first quarter , and Ryzen 200 (Hawk Point Refresh) is in the second. Finally, the start of sales of the 12-core Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 16-core Ryzen 9 9950X3D is scheduled for March this year.

Also among the AMD chips shown was the Navi 48 graphics processor with RDNA 4 architecture, which is the basis of the Radeon RX 9070 video card. Users have already calculated that this GPU has an area of ​​​​about 390 mm², which makes it similar in area to the Nvidia AD103 GPU (379 mm²), which is used in the RTX 4080. This chip is also larger than the Navi 32 (346 mm²), but less than Navi 31 (529 mm²).
