The SwitchBot company presented at CES 2025 a home robot vacuum cleaner designed not only for cleaning rooms, but also for transporting and powering other equipment.
SwitchBot K20+ Pro is a small robot vacuum cleaner with a diameter of about 25 cm, which has all the traditional functions. Using lidar, it creates a map of the house so the owner can tell the car where to go; it has a docking station for emptying trash and charging. It is distinguished from other robotic vacuum cleaners by another component – the wheeled FusionPlatform, which is located on top of the robot. It docks with this platform, and it moves in the same direction as the robot.
The manufacturer characterizes the machine as a “multi-tasking home robot” and “smart delivery assistant.” You can place any device on FusionPlatform, and the platform will not only carry it, but also provide power. This could be a fan, a tablet computer on a stand, an air purifier, or a security camera.
SwitchBot invites K20+ Pro buyers to develop their idea using, among other things, 3D printing technologies. For example, place speakers, car refrigerators or ultraviolet lamps for sterilization on the platform. The company is now even developing a compatible robotic arm, but getting this device to perform tasks accurately will not be easy, and SwitchBot said that the project is still “at the laboratory stage.”
