At CES 2025, LG introduced the UltraFine 6K monitor (32U990A). The new 32-inch monitor from the South Korean vendor supports the Thunderbolt 5 standard, which makes it a good option for use with the Apple Mac mini and MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chips.

LG has not revealed all the details about its new monitor, but it is known that it is equipped with a Nano IPS Black matrix, which provides a wide color gamut. The manufacturer claims coverage of Adobe RGB color spaces at 99.5% and DCI-P3 at 98%. The UltraFine 6K resolution has not yet been announced, but we can assume that it will be similar to the Apple Pro Display XDR, whose 32-inch Retina 6K display has a resolution of 6016×3384 pixels and a pixel density of 218 PPI. It also remains unknown whether the UltraFine 6K will support a 120Hz refresh rate or be limited to 60Hz.
Compared to previous UltraFine models, the most noticeable change is the new XDR-style design. The monitor features a height-adjustable stand reminiscent of Apple’s Studio Display stand, and the edge-to-edge screen is a significant departure from the original UltraFine 5K.
Whether the new product will become a direct competitor to the Apple Pro Display XDR will depend on its cost, which LG has not yet disclosed. The use of an IPS Black panel could potentially make UltraFine 6K more affordable than XDR. For comparison, the Dell UltraSharp 32-inch 6K IPS Black monitor costs $2,480, while the Apple Pro Display XDR costs $4,999.
