Dell has revived the iconic Area 51 series of gaming laptops and introduced two new laptop models – Alienware 16 Area 51 and Alienware 18 Area 51. Both are equipped with the latest components from Intel and Nvidia.

Both laptops are made in an aluminum case with rounded shapes, which looks like the body of a spaceship. At the bottom of the laptops there is a transparent window, behind which the cooling fans with RGB lighting are visible.
Laptops are distinguished by their impressive dimensions and weight. The Alienware 16 Area 51 dimensions are 290 x 365 x 21.6–28.5 mm and weighs 3.45 kg. The Alienware 18 Area 51 measures 320 x 410 x 24.32-30.5 mm and weighs 4.35 kg.
The Alienware 16 Area 51 is equipped with a screen (presumably IPS) with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The display provides 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, supports Nvidia G-Sync image synchronization technology, Advanced Optimus and has a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m². The Alienware 18 Area 51’s screen has the same specs except for the refresh rate, which is 300Hz.
The graphics subsystem of laptops is represented by mobile video cards of the GeForce RTX 50 series. However, the manufacturer did not specify which video card models will be available.
The laptop hardware includes a 20-core Intel Core Ultra 255HX with a frequency of up to 5.2 GHz or a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX with a frequency of up to 5.4 GHz, from 16 to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM with a speed of 6400 or 7200 MT/s . For data storage, NVMe PCIe 4.0 drives with a capacity of 1 or 2 TB are offered. RAID 0 configurations are also available, consisting of two drives of 4 and 8 TB or three drives of 4 TB (total capacity – 12 TB).
The laptops are equipped with rubberized RGB keyboards with Cherry MX Ultra mechanical switches, support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The audio system includes four speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The ports include three USB Type-A 3.2 Gen1, up to two Thunderbolt 5 (depending on configuration), one HDMI and 2.5 Gbit LAN. The devices are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 96 Wh.
Depending on the configuration, laptops are equipped with either a standard 280 W power supply or a 360 W GaN charger.
Basic configurations will be available starting at $1,999.99. At the start of sales in the first quarter, a configuration will be available for $3,199.99, presumably with GeForce RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 graphics.
