The new year has just begun, and Resident Evil 4, a remake of the 2005 cult action game from Japanese publisher and developer Capcom, has already reached a new sales peak.
Let’s remember that the last time Capcom updated data on the results of the reimagining of Resident Evil 4 was last fall – by mid-October 2024, the game had exactly 8 million copies.
As it became known, after just two months (as of December 19, 2024), total sales of the Resident Evil 4 remake worldwide exceeded 9 million copies, which is 1 million more than the October figure.
If Resident Evil 4 maintains its momentum, it will easily break Resident Evil Village’s record of reaching 10 million copies sold – it took three years and one month to achieve this, while the RE4 remake is not yet two years old.
The announcement of Capcom’s new achievement of reimagining was accompanied by a thematic illustration replete with references (see image above), in which the characters of Resident Evil 4 play bingo.
«To all of you, more than 9 million agents, Happy New Year and thank you for your support,” shared the developers of the Resident Evil 4 remake from the Capcom Dev 1 team. Words of gratitude can be seen in the illustration.
The remake of Resident Evil 4 was released on March 24, 2023 on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and on December 20 it reached the iPhone 15 Pro, iPad and Mac. After release, the game received the Mercenaries mode, the Separate Ways add-on, and a VR mode.
