Foxconn sparked growth in technology stocks around the world

Let’s remember that in the fourth quarter, Foxconn’s revenue grew by 15% to $63.9 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations, and in December separately there was a revenue growth of more than 42%, driven primarily by demand for Foxconn’s services for the contract assembly of server systems for artificial intelligence infrastructure . In addition, the company’s management spoke quite positively about the prospects for revenue growth in the current quarter and the year as a whole.

In trading in Taiwan, shares of TSMC, which is the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer, rose 1.9% and updated a historical record. This dependence is natural, because TSMC is a contract manufacturer of chips for Nvidia and AMD, which are the largest suppliers of computing accelerators. SK hynix shares rose 10% as the company is the largest supplier of HBM memory for Nvidia accelerators, and even laggard Samsung Electronics saw its shares rise 4%.

Shares in ASML, the world’s largest supplier of lithography scanners, rose 6% in Europe, while German chipmaker Infineon saw its shares rise by almost the same amount. Franco-Italian STMicroelectronics, due to a proportional increase in the share price, increased its own capitalization by the same 6%. In fact, even Nvidia shares rose in price by a couple of percent before the opening of trading in the US. In addition, the stock market was fueled by Microsoft’s recent announcements of its intentions to spend about $80 billion in 2025 on developing its own artificial intelligence infrastructure. AMD shares rose 3% in pre-market trading, while Qualcomm and Broadcom shares rose nearly 2%.
