Roborock Saros Z70 robot vacuum cleaner can not only vacuum, but also remove things

Roborock has added a robotic arm to its robot vacuum cleaner, which debuted at CES last year, for cleaning up small items scattered on the floor. The new Roborock Saros Z70 is capable of detecting and picking up items such as socks, napkins and small towels weighing up to 300 grams.

Saros Z70 is equipped with a camera and LED light on the robotic arm, which allows it to recognize objects and determine their weight. Thanks to sensors, it can also avoid collisions with other objects. During the cleaning process, The Verge explains, the robot first scans the room, memorizing the items it can pick up. Then, as he begins cleaning, he moves these items into the clean area. The robot could even be programmed to collect these items and take them to a specific location, such as a laundry basket.

In addition to the robotic arm, the Saros Z70 also received an updated StarSight Autonomous System 2.0 navigation and obstacle recognition system, which allows the robot to learn to recognize certain objects, for example, a favorite toy or bag. In the application, users will be able to see where the robot last saw a particular item, which can be useful for finding lost items. The StarSight system uses 3D sensors, RGB cameras and machine learning to navigate and identify up to 108 different objects.

The new product also features high suction power (22,000 Pa), a dual anti-tangle system, and dual rotating mops that can be raised up to 2.2 cm to avoid brushing carpets and automatically detach at the base when cleaning is not required. The Saros Z70 is less than 8cm high, allowing it to fit under low furniture, and also features an AdaptLift chassis to get over thresholds and carpets. The robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a new multifunctional station Multifunctional Dock 4.0 for charging, automatic cleaning, replenishing and draining water, as well as cleaning its brushes. The updated robot will be presented at CES 2025 in the coming days.

It is worth saying that in addition to the Saros Z70, Roborock will also present two more of its flagship models at CES – Saros 10R and Saros 10. Saros 10R, unlike the Z70, has less suction power (19,000 Pa), but has the same navigation technology and sinks. The Saros 10 offers VibraRise vibration squeegee and an improved Reactive AI 3.0 system for collision avoidance, and also uses LiDAR-based navigation.

All three models support the Matter 1.4 standard for smart home integration and are compatible with Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, and Google Home. The device also has its own voice assistant, Roborock Hey Rocky. The Saros Z70 is expected to go on sale before June 2025, with its price to be announced later. The Saros 10R and Saros 10 will go on sale on February 10, 2025, priced at $1,599 each.
