According to online sources, Intel and AMD will present new processors at the upcoming CES 2025 exhibition. While Intel is expected to announce budget chips from the Arrow Lake family, AMD should announce higher-end Ryzen 9000X3D processors. In anticipation of this, images of yet-to-be-announced MSI motherboards for future and existing Intel LGA 1851 and AMD Socket AM5 processors have appeared online.
The first MAG B860 Tomahawk WiFi model is designed for Intel processors. The motherboard is finished in classic black with green accents. The design provides four DIMM slots, two PCIe x16 connectors, one PCIe x1, at least three M.2 and four SATA interfaces.
The motherboard is equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi 7 wireless module. The presence of several Thunderbolt 4 interfaces is mentioned. There are two 8-pin EPS connectors, which are located above the DIMM slots, and at the bottom there is an additional 8-pin power connector that will provide up to 150 W of power to power the video card along with 75 W from the PCIe x16 slot.
The following three motherboards are designed for AMD Ryzen processors. The first of them is MSI Pro B850-P WiFi, made in black with radiators in white and silver shades. There are four PCIe x16 slots, which has not often been seen in budget segment motherboards in recent years. At the bottom there is an 8-pin power connector for the PCIe slots. There are also three M.2 slots for solid-state drives and four SATA connectors.
Another new product will be the MSI B840 Gaming Plus WiFi model, which stands out for its unusual design with white radiators and blue-gray accent inserts. The design has as many as five PCIe x16 slots, but obviously, it will not be possible to use them all at the same time due to the limitation on the number of PCIe lanes. The motherboard lacks an additional power connector at the bottom and overall it looks like an entry-level model.
The latest addition will be the MSI Pro B840-P WiFi model, which also features five PCIe x16 slots. In addition to this, there are four DIMM slots, two M.2 and four SATA connectors.
It is expected that all four motherboards will be officially presented at CES 2025, which begins on January 7 in Las Vegas. Probably, as part of this event, more detailed characteristics of the new products, their retail cost and timing of going on sale will become known.
