The South Korean company LG did not wait for the annual CES exhibition, which will begin in a week, presenting a new line of gaming monitors. The most interesting among the new products is the flagship model LG UltraGear 5K2K (45GX990A), which, according to the manufacturer, is “the world’s first flexible OLED display with 5K2K resolution.”
The new product is equipped with a 45-inch bendable matrix with support for a resolution of 5120 × 2160 pixels, the radius of curvature of which can vary from 0 to 900R. The panel uses a 21:9 aspect ratio and the developers note that such a screen will provide “a more immersive gaming experience than standard 16:9 displays, while maintaining better content compatibility than 32:9 monitors.” This format is also well suited for ensuring high efficiency during operation, so the new product may be of interest not only to gamers.
UltraGear 5K2K supports LG’s Dual-Mode feature, which allows you to quickly switch between different saved screen resolution and refresh rate settings, as well as change aspect ratio and image size. Response time is only 0.03 ms. The monitor supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro features, but the maximum available frame rate has not been announced.
At the same time, LG announced a curved 45-inch UltraGear monitor (45GX950A), which is equipped with a matrix that supports 5K2K resolution with an 800R radius of curvature. LG said in a press release that users can expect “the crisp, true-to-life images with stunning colors and exceptional contrast that LG OLED products are renowned for.” The monitor also offers a response time of 0.03ms.
Both new products are equipped with DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C interfaces with a power of 90 W. The retail price of the monitors and the timing of their arrival on the market have not yet been announced.
LG also announced a 39-inch curved UltraGear monitor (39GX90SA), which is suitable for games, including those from cloud services. It is equipped with the WebOS platform, which provides quick access to streaming game services, so the manufacturer positions the device as a “home entertainment center.” It also uses a panel with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a radius of curvature of 800R. “It features USB-C ports for seamless connectivity and comes with LG’s ergonomic and compact L-shaped stand for easy desktop placement,” LG said in a press release.
Probably, more detailed information about the new UltraGear monitors from LG will appear in a few days, when the annual CES 2025 exhibition begins in Las Vegas.
