In the context of global demand for artificial intelligence technologies, Nvidia has experienced strong interest in its products over the past two years, especially in the United States, the Middle East and China. However, due to export restrictions, the company cannot sell its most powerful accelerators, such as the Hopper H100 and even the H800 previously adapted for China, to China without a special license. In response to these limitations, Nvidia offered a stripped-down version – the HGX H20, which, despite its more modest characteristics, is quickly conquering the Chinese market for artificial intelligence systems.

«The modified H20 system, which is fully compliant with China’s export control regulations, is delivering incredible sales results, underscoring how important the Chinese market is for Nvidia, even with the need to adapt products to current restrictions,” writes semiconductor business analyst Klaus Åsholm in X. Claus Aasholm).

The development of artificial intelligence in the world is driving demand for all types of data center equipment, including GPUs from Nvidia. The world’s leading economies, the US and China, are in a race for AI supremacy, and while the US is using its resources to build AI capabilities, China, despite limitations, continues to actively develop its own hardware and software AI solutions . This is confirmed by the recent achievement of the Chinese company Deepseek, which successfully trained its language model on an Nvidia GPU.

In the future, Chinese companies such as Biren Technologies and Moore Threads could compete with Nvidia in the domestic market. However, analysts note that this will not happen anytime soon, and Nvidia will continue to dominate Chinese data centers, even with cut-down versions of its GPUs.
