Microsoft continues to add new options to Windows 11 that expand the ability of users to customize different components. This time, the developers have implemented support for advanced functions for the connected camera, so you can easily change parameters such as brightness, contrast and frame rate.
According to the source, advanced configuration options are not currently available for all cameras. For example, when testing the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera on a computer with Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (build 22631.4602), there were no functions for switching different parameters. At the same time, all additional options were available on the HP Specter laptop with Windows 11. Microsoft confirmed that advanced camera settings are available for a limited number of devices. The company continues to work on expanding camera capabilities in Windows 11, which likely means expanding the list of supported devices in the future.
At the same time, Microsoft continues to work on integrating new features for the camera into Windows 11. In one of the recent beta versions of the software platform, insiders now have the ability to select one of two camera modes. The first option allows different Windows 11 apps to access the camera at the same time (previously, the OS would block access to the camera if it was already in use by an app). The second mode is intended for debugging the camera and allows you to disable all functions added by the device manufacturer to check the functionality of the device.
Not long ago, a message appeared on the Microsoft developer blog about its intention to implement a number of new options for the camera in Windows 11. It was about the ability to select the resolution and frame rate. Later, in one of the beta versions of Windows 11, it was possible to find options for changing the resolution and frame rate of the camera. This apparently means that new camera features are close to becoming generally available in a future Windows 11 update.
