Following the leak of the Grand Theft Auto V source code last Christmas in 2024, a similar situation befell another open-world crime action game that debuted 11 years ago.

We are talking about the crazy action movie Saints Row IV from Deep Silver and developers from the American studio Volition, which was closed last summer as part of a large-scale restructuring of the Swedish holding Embracer Group.

As reported by members of the ResetEra and Reddit forums, the leak was caused by an unknown user of the 4chan imageboard, who accompanied the link to the 60 GB archive with the caption: “Fuck Embracer Group.”

It is unclear what exactly the holding company did to annoy the 4chan member and provoked the publication of the source code of Saints Row IV. The identity of the author of the leak remains unknown, along with how he obtained the source code.

Streamer and modder HeySlickThatsMe has already familiarized itself with the leak and reports that the source code of the re-release released in 2015 with the subtitle Re-Elected, and not the original Saints Row IV, has become publicly available.

Despite this, the source code includes traces of past games in the series, the canceled Enter The Dominatrix expansion for Saints Row: The Third, from which the fourth game grew, and cut content (such as defecation animations).

Saints Row IV debuted in August 2013 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and has since been ported to PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Players take on the role of the President of the United States and find themselves in a virtual prison of aliens invading Earth.
