In recent years, fans of LittleBigPlanet have not had too many reasons to rejoice (the third part was recently removed from sale), but developers from the American studio Trixel Creative are not letting the legacy of Media Molecule die.
After two years of work, Trixel Creative has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Restitched, a 2.5D puzzle platformer with a focus on user-generated content. In other words, an analogue of LittleBigPlanet.
It is worth noting that Restitched was originally conceived as a fan game based on LittleBigPlanet, but after Sony demanded that development be stopped, the project was repurposed into an original product.
Restitched players will take on the role of Stuffy the bear as he sets out to find his roots. The protagonist will have to meet new friends, face enemies and “stitch together communities unraveled by tyranny.”
Staffy’s adventure will take you to different thematic worlds, entirely created using the in-game level editor – it will also be available to users to create and distribute their own creations.
They promise integration with the Steam Workshop, wide possibilities for customizing your wardrobe (adjusting colors, textures) and a variety of abilities. Among the supported languages, only English is listed so far.
Restitched is being created for PC (Steam) and has no release date. The developers are positioning their project as a “declaration of love” to user-generated content and the platformer genre.
