OnePlus introduced the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro smartphones. Both new products are equipped with high-quality screens, powerful microprocessors from Qualcomm and will be available in several configurations with different amounts of RAM and internal storage.
The developers equipped both smartphones with high-quality 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2780 × 1264 pixels and a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. A panel with a peak brightness of 4500 cd/m² and PWM backlight control with a frequency of 2160 Hz is used. The screen is protected from mechanical damage by Oppo Crystal Shield Glass.
The triple main camera is based on a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 (f/1.8) sensor with support for optical image stabilization. It is complemented by an 8 MP wide-angle camera (f/2.2) with a viewing angle of 120º and a 2 MP macro module (f/2.0). It supports shooting video in 4K at speeds up to 60 frames per second. The front camera is based on a 16 MP Sony IMX480 sensor (f/2.4). The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the screen area.
The hardware basis of the basic Ace 5 is the eight-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 microprocessor, manufactured using a 4 nm process technology. An Adreno 750 accelerator is provided for graphics processing. The more advanced Ace 5 Pro uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite microprocessor, manufactured using a 3nm process technology. The Adreno 830 accelerator is responsible for processing graphics. Smartphones will be available in versions with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB storage.
The powerful chip, combined with other components, allowed the Ace 5 Pro to score an impressive 3.31 million points in the Antutu benchmark test. The device is the first in the industry to receive chip-level support for Oppo Fengchi Game Core technology, which provides an optimal balance between processor performance and gaming performance requirements. According to the manufacturer, Ace 5 Pro is the industry’s first smartphone capable of delivering video in games at 120 frames per second at 1080p quality.
To effectively remove thermal energy, Ace 5 Pro has an advanced cooling system with an evaporation chamber with an area of 6004 mm². It is complemented by an exclusive air duct design, heat-dissipating graphite film under the screen and an aircraft-grade aluminum frame. All this, according to the manufacturer, allows for effective heat dissipation, so the smartphone does not overheat even in resource-demanding games. The base Ace 5 also uses a cooling system with an evaporation chamber with an area of 9925 mm².
The power source in the Ace 5 Pro is a 6100 mAh battery, which can be charged from 0 to 52% in just 15 minutes, and up to 100% in 36 minutes. Supports SuperVOOC fast charging technology up to 100W. The Ace 5 uses a 6400 mAh battery with support for fast charging up to 80 W. To replenish energy, a USB Type-C interface is provided in both cases.
As for the cost of new OnePlus smartphones, it will depend on the selected configuration. The basic Ace 5 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM will cost $315, and for the version with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of ROM you will have to pay $480. The more advanced Ace 5 Pro in the basic configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM is priced at $465, and the version with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of ROM will cost about $645. In China, both new products will go on sale in the coming days, and in the markets of other countries they will appear next month.
