The fact that Activision’s military shooter franchise would be collaborating with The Squid Game was announced in early December with an explicit teaser. The launch of the event was expected in January 2025.

As it became known, a crossover with the second season of “Squid Game 2” will start in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and the shareware battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone on January 3. The announcement was accompanied by a gameplay trailer.

Activision is promising Squid Game 2-style operator skins, unique weapon blueprints, and limited-time modes like Green Light, Red Light and the ttakchi games from the show.

In particular, the video featured the images of participants in the “Squid Game,” competition guards in iconic pink overalls and black masks, as well as the mysterious host of the cruel game.

The crossover will make you feel like you’re part of a brutal show

It is worth noting that in the comments to the trailer, many are not so much discussing the crossover as criticizing Activision for mistakes in the development of Call of Duty, in the work of the anti-cheat Ricohet, and for the use of AI to create illustrations for the game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released on October 25 on PC PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Game Pass. The game set several records within the franchise both in the first weekend and at the end of the month from release.
