Premium+ subscription for users of social network X has risen in price to $22

The monetization strategy of social network X, known as Twitter before its purchase by Elon Musk last fall, recently included three levels of paid subscriptions costing from $3 to $16 per month, but from December 21, the senior Premium+ level will require subscribers to spend amounting to $22 per month. Existing subscribers will be able to use the service under the same conditions until January 20.

As Reuters explains, the cost of the Basic and Premium subscriptions did not change and remained at $3 and $8 per month, respectively. According to the X administration, after raising the cost of the Premium+ subscription to $22 per month, the social network will be able to direct more money to content creators who post it on its pages. The changes affected only some countries in the markets of which X is officially present and offers subscriptions.

Among other things, Premium+ subscribers get the opportunity to view the content of the social network without advertising, as well as work more actively with the Grok chatbot and the Radar service to track certain trends using keywords. By increasing revenue from the sale of subscriptions, X will be able to reduce its dependence on advertiser money, and Elon Musk considers this factor to be one of the important ones from the point of view of the objectivity of published information.
