New generation Radeon video cards based on RDNA 4 architecture will receive a new design for the reference cooling system. This became clear from AMD advertising posters published in the company’s official channel on the Reddit forum.
The AMD video card depicted on promotional materials is equipped with a cooling system with three fans and is decorated in black and silver colors. The card also features an LED-lit Radeon logo on the top edge. Unfortunately, AMD did not reveal the name of the graphics card in the promotional material, but it is depicted next to the Ryzen 9 series processor, likely hinting at the gaming kit that the manufacturer will offer in the future.
It is noteworthy that the advertising materials in question were published on the AMD channel on the Reddit forum 18 days ago, but were largely unnoticed by users. Comments on this post are disabled. It is possible that this is a controlled leak to stir up interest in the Reds’ future video cards. AMD has previously resorted to similar tactics to advertise its new products. For example, before the official announcement of the Radeon R9 Fury video card, its image “accidentally” appeared on a presentation slide for investors.
According to the latest rumors, AMD’s new series of desktop graphics cards will not be called RX 8000. Instead, AMD will go straight to the 9000 series. At the same time, the names of video cards will not look the same as before: instead of Radeon RX 9700 XT, RX 9700, RX 9600, we will supposedly see Radeon RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, RX 9060, etc. Several sources speak about this at once. This can be explained as follows: future AMD Strix Halo mobile processors will have integrated Radeon 80×0 graphics, mobile discrete video cards will be called 90×0, so the use of the usual x600, x700, etc. series numbering for desktop video cards in the new series may create confusion.
Whether AMD really changed the reference design of its video cards and jumped over a whole series of accelerators – we will find out very soon, in early January, at CES 2025, where their announcement is expected.
