More than a year has passed since the premiere of the first and so far only trailer for the hotly anticipated open-world crime thriller Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) from Rockstar Games, and some fans simply cannot come to terms with it.
As noted by the PC Gamer portal, in the community of fans languishing in anticipation of the second GTA VI trailer, a theory has arisen according to which the rumored video will be released this week, on December 27.
It all started with a photo of New Year’s gifts from GTA VI mission designer Joe Davis, in which several references to the game and December 27 were spotted:
Following the meticulous analysis of Davis’ photograph, fans began to search the Internet for everything related to 27 and GTA VI. There were a lot. For example:
Players also recalled that the lunar cycle has 27 days (Rockstar allegedly plans its releases around the phases of the moon), VI in the general Roman calendar means December 27, and the FBI identification warrant number for Bonnie and Clyde was 1227.
«At this stage, even if Rockstar did not plan to release anything on the 27th, it now has to. The 27th is a perfect day,” summed up gabrielripa from the Reddit forum. It is possible, however, that fans are setting themselves up for new disappointment.
GTA VI is still scheduled for release in the fall of 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X and S. According to a former Rockstar animator, studio employees get genuine pleasure from hearing such fan theories.
