Let us remember that in previous games, Geralt of Rivia had the opportunity to have an affair and enter into a fleeting relationship with representatives of the opposite sex, but the main character of The Witcher 4 is Ciri, not the White Wolf.

When asked by a GameSpot journalist whether there will be novels in The Witcher 4, head of development Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Małgorzata Mitręga unanimously answered in the affirmative.

According to Mitrega, romantic relationships “are an important part of life.” Kalemba added that they’re also a big part of CDPR’s approach to making games: “I think we wouldn’t be able to tell the full story without them.”

«As always, we strive to carefully consider the topic and make everything as exciting and meaningful as possible. We’re not trying to create romance for the sake of romance. CDPR does not do this,” Kalemba assured.

In the same interview, Kalemba and Mithrega assured that The Witcher 4 will have significant side quests with visible and not always obvious consequences that are connected to the main storyline.

The Witcher 4 is being created on Unreal Engine 5 and has no release date. In the story, Ciri has passed the Trial of Herbs and is preparing to become a witcher – CDPR has already confirmed that in the new game the heroine will not be as strong as in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
