The authors call Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 the first true survival role-playing game. Gamers will be given the opportunity to create a unique character, customize all their traits and skills, and then go “collect scars and stories” in a new big world.

«Live together. Die alone. […] The new “Will to Live” system in Blackfrost adds elements of psychological survival to the usual formula and introduces a resilience indicator. […] Manage your doubts and fears and find solace in the little things if you want to survive,” this is how representatives from the Hinterland studio describe the key gameplay innovation of the sequel to The Long Dark.

Early access for Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 starts only in 2026, the project already has its own page on Steam.
