Microsoft aims to make the Xbox app the home for all PC games

Microsoft has announced an update for the Xbox app on Windows, which has been tested by Xbox Insider members since late October.

The update brings with it an improved home screen for the Xbox app. The home page highlights the latest releases, new events, Game Pass content, sales, curated collections, and recommendations.

The home screen also includes a Jump Back feature, which allows users to click on any game card in a compact mode and return to gameplay.

As Microsoft notes, many users turn to the Xbox App on PC to find and play projects from Game Pass, but the company intends to make the application a place for games that are not available in the subscription.

Last summer, Microsoft and partners began working to add all PC games with Xbox features to the Xbox App—to date, the app’s library has expanded to nearly 400 titles.

More than 100 of the games new to the Xbox app are part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning they are available on Xbox after purchasing the PC version and vice versa, and also include unified cloud saves and cross-play features.

Microsoft is not going to stop there. The company is preparing to share details of its plans for the Xbox app at the Game Developer Conference in March 2025.
