The Japanese company JAPANNEXT has released an unusual gaming monitor JN-V236G180F-RETRO in its homeland. This 23.6-inch new product is made in the style of TVs from the 60s and 70s of the last century. At the same time, the monitor has quite decent characteristics for its segment.
JAPANNEXT claims that the new monitor will bring nostalgia to users with its retro design and support for monochrome mode. Like TVs of old, the device comes with two knobs for adjustments. However, most monitor settings are accessible through the digital menu.
If on old TVs one adjustment knob was usually responsible for switching channels, and the other for adjusting the volume, then on the JN-V236G180F-RETRO the upper knob is responsible for turning on, adjusting the digital crosshair and changing the brightness, and the lower one is for adjusting the volume of the built-in speakers with a power of 5 Tues each.
Modern monitors require more controls, so additional buttons on the JN-V236G180F-RETRO are located on the rear panel. There is an on and off button, as well as buttons to access the settings and navigation menus.
The monitor is equipped with a VA matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 180 Hz and a response time of 1 ms. The device supports AMD FreeSync image synchronization technology and includes various game modes (RTS, FPS and others). The maximum display brightness is 300 cd/m². The screen covers 90% of the sRGB color space and 80% of DCI-P3. The monitor also has a VESA 100×100 mount for wall mounting. Available connectors include one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0 and a 3.5 mm audio output.
The JAPANNEXT JN-V236G180F-RETRO monitor will go on sale in Japan on Friday this week. It will cost 29,980 yen (approximately $200).
