The early access launch of the fantasy action role-playing game Path of Exile 2 from the New Zealand studio Grinding Gear Games was marred by technical problems, but this did not stop the game from achieving impressive results on Steam.
According to the SteamDB portal, on the night of December 9, the number of concurrent players of Path of Exile 2 on Steam reached 578,569 people (official Valve statistics confirm this data).
For comparison: the best result of the original Path of Exile, which, unlike the early access of the sequel, is distributed free of charge, has stopped at 229 thousand users over the past 11 years since its release.
The success of Path of Exile 2 has already secured the game 15th place in the rating of Steam projects with the highest peak online. The action game from Grinding Gear Games was ahead of Valheim (502 thousand), Terraria (489 thousand) and the new Marvel Rivals (480 thousand).
During its first weekend in Early Access, Path of Exile 2 received more than 37 thousand “very positive” (81% rating) reviews from Steam users, despite server problems.
At the start of Path of Exile 2 Early Access, players complained about long queues and inability to connect. During the first 24 hours, the developers solved the main problems and continue to work to improve the stability of the client.
Path of Exile 2 early access started on December 6 on PC (Steam, EGS, separate client), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. At this stage, you have to pay for the game (from 1100 rubles on Steam), and with a full release the project will become conditional -free.
