Only 5 companies with state participation out of 25 that attended the meeting of the Ministry of Digital Development reported a complete transition to domestic software in critical information infrastructure facilities. Kirill Alifanov, Deputy General Director for IT at Sheremetyevo Airport, spoke about this at the recent Pulse of Digitalization forum.
«Of the 25 companies, 5 reported that they fully complied with the presidential decree and substituted imports. It was not said how many hundreds of billions were spent on this, but the main thing was that the decree was carried out,” the source quotes Mr. Alifanov as saying.
Let us remind you that according to the presidential decree, government agencies and state-owned companies are prohibited from using foreign operating systems and other software at critical information infrastructure facilities from January 1, 2025. For database management systems, the transition period to domestic solutions is set until January 1, 2026.
A representative of the Ministry of Digital Development reported that all company departments participating in the meeting were “successfully switching to domestic software at CII facilities.” Some companies have already completed the import substitution process, while others are actively working to complete the transition on time. “They will report on import substitution at KII facilities at a separate meeting,” added the representative of the Ministry of Digital Development. If some companies, for one reason or another, do not have time to switch to domestic software before January 1, then a strict analysis of the reasons will be carried out. The Ministry of Digital Development does not exclude the possibility that such companies may be required to enter into forward contracts.
