AMD promised to increase availability of Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but it’s not about price

Released over a month ago, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming processor has proven so popular that many retailers have sold out of stock, but demand remains high. Against this background, the manufacturer announced an increase in supplies and added that the situation with processor availability should improve during the quarter.

«We are working to get as many processors to market as quickly as possible, and more are being added every week. We expect availability to improve as shipment volumes increase during the quarter,” an AMD spokesperson commented on the issue.

Currently, gamers and enthusiasts are having a hard time finding the Ryzen 7 9800X3D on sale, which became one of the top 10 best-selling processors on Amazon about 10 days after it went on sale. It’s gotten to the point where some people are reselling the chip for up to $1,000, more than double the starting price of $479. For example, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is on sale at Walmart, but it costs about $800 there. It is also reported that scammers are trying to profit from the shortage by offering the processor at a suspiciously low price.

It seems that AMD did not expect such high demand for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Despite this, the company appears to be able to ramp up chip production quickly enough to increase supply and meet demand. In fact, the chip is still available at retail, but its price is far from the recommended one. This means that those wishing to purchase it should wait until AMD increases supplies to a level that will stabilize prices.
