«We’re excited to partner with Microsoft to keep Xboxes lasting longer and out of landfills. We now offer official Microsoft parts and step-by-step repair guides for the Xbox Series S and Series X, including all-digital and disc-drive versions,” Elizabeth Chamberlain, director of sustainability at iFixit, commented on the initiative to The Verge.

The Microsoft Repair Hub section of the iFixit website also features spare parts for Microsoft Surface series devices, which the company has been selling since 2023. “Since we started partnering with Microsoft on Surface parts last year, we’ve been helping our customers repair their Microsoft laptops and tablets—and it’s great to be able to offer the same to Xbox owners,” Chamberlain added.

As for prices, a motherboard for the Xbox Series S with a pre-installed cooling system (without a fan), for example, costs $300 for the American version of the console and $350 for the European version. In turn, a dual motherboard for the Xbox Series X will cost $400, and a case for this console will cost $40. The joystick for the Xbox controller will cost $15, and the motherboard will cost $30.

Microsoft isn’t the only manufacturer iFixit works with: the company sells almost all parts for Valve’s Steam Deck portable consoles and offers repair manuals; its range includes original spare parts for Google Pixel phones and tablets; it previously offered spare parts for Samsung products, but the partnership project was closed this year.
