As promised, with the start of early access for owners of premium editions, the adventure action game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle from Bethesda Softworks and the MachineGames studio (the latter Wolfenstein) received the first ratings.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has approximately 90 reviews on Metacritic, with ratings of 87% (PC) and 86% (Xbox). On OpenCritic the picture is similar – 86% with 69 reviews (91% of critics recommend the game).
Thus, the game has earned ratings on par with Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (79-88% on Metacritic) – MachineGames’ highest-rated project – but some critics even call the new release the studio’s best work.
Reviewers were delighted with the exciting plot and charismatic characters, adventures in the spirit of “Indiana Jones” and the spirit of adventure, the quality of the acting, the number of secrets and ray-traced graphics.
The disadvantages of the game include the slow pace of the narrative due to open locations, primitive stealth, poor enemy AI, rough transitions to the third-person camera, high system requirements and an abundance of bugs in the review build.
Critics agreed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle turned out to be an excellent adventure and a real gift for fans of the franchise, which is slightly spoiled only by some design and technical decisions.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on December 9 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X, S and Game Pass, and will reach PS5 in the spring of 2025. On Steam, the game collects “very positive” reviews (the rating is 92%).
