Developers from GSC Game World continue to make the open world of the Zone in the post-apocalyptic shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is more conducive to exploration. The studio announced the release of a new patch for the game.
Update 1.0.3 became for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for the third time in the last week. The 19.3 GB patch is available on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, and will reach the Microsoft Store and Xbox consoles in the near future.
In 1.0.3, we focused on eliminating the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION and LowLevelFatalError errors that led to crashes from the game, as well as fixing story and side missions.
Main and secondary quests that have received improvements (no spoilers):
- «In Search of Past Glory – enemies will no longer be able to pursue the player outside the laboratory;
- «On the Edge – NPCs will no longer die when trying to enter a building;
- «In the Name of Science – the mutant will no longer disappear before the player searches his corpse;
- «Dangerous Liaisons – players will no longer be able to block their passage further;
- «King of the Hill – the story NPC will no longer become hostile if he notices the player during the mission;
- «A Heavy Burden – story NPC will no longer disappear before the player’s eyes in the bunker;
- «Legends of the Zone – NPCs will no longer disappear after successfully completing the mission.
We also fixed the problem with characters blocking the door in the mission “Back to the Slag Heap”, resolved the issue of missing saves after a “hard” reboot, and corrected the controls:
- Mouse smoothing and acceleration options are now disabled by default;
- Increased the standard mouse sensitivity parameters for the camera (by 25%) and when aiming (by 15%).
In future updates, the developers plan to fix the A-Life 2.0 system, which functions intermittently due to bugs. GSC Game World recently told Western journalists what exactly happened to the mechanics at release.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was released on November 20 on PC, Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. Numerous technical problems at launch did not prevent the game from reaching 1 million copies sold in the first two days after release.
