The Windows Central portal shared renders of the upcoming Lenovo Legion Go S portable gaming console. Previously, the console appeared in leaks under the name Legion Go Lite.
Lenovo released the Lenovo Legion Go portable gaming console last year. The device is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 series processor based on Zen 4 architecture and offers impressive specifications: an 8.8-inch screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, a refresh rate of 144 Hz, 16 GB of RAM and removable gamepads.
It is now clear that Lenovo is preparing to release a new portable console. Initially, it was assumed that the new product would be equipped with a processor from the expected Ryzen Z2 series based on Zen 5 architecture. However, recent rumors indicate that the Lenovo Legion Go S will receive a Ryzen Z2 processor, but it will belong to the Rembrandt series with Zen 3+ cores. In other words, it will be a less powerful processor compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme (used in the original Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally X) and its more modern Zen 4 cores.
At the same time, the Legion Go S console itself will be a simplified version of the original Legion Go. Renders of the new product confirm the absence of removable gamepads, and also hint at a more compact display.
In images of the Legion Go S provided by Windows Central, you can see the presence of 18 buttons, including the standard ABXY buttons on the right, two analog sticks with RGB backlighting, a D-pad, and a TrackPoint joystick similar to that used in Lenovo laptops. In addition, the console is equipped with two front-facing speakers, ventilation grilles on the back, and two USB-C ports, both of which are located on the top edge of the device.
The new leak also suggests that the Legion Go S will be priced between $399 and $449. Thus, it will be significantly cheaper than the original Legion Go, which at the start of sales was estimated at $699 or €799.
