According to online sources, the three best-selling smartphones in the world in the third quarter of this year were last year’s Apple iPhone, and two models from Samsung took 4th and 5th places. The resource 9to5mac writes about this with reference to a report by Counterpoint Research, compiled based on the results of a study of the global smartphone market.
The report said that the best-selling smartphone in the world over the past three-month period was the basic iPhone 15, which accounts for 3% of total units sold. The top three also included the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro. They are followed by the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A15 4G. The second five in the ranking are iPhone 14, Redmi 13C, Galaxy A05, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Data on supply volumes for specific models is not disclosed, but it is known that the iPhone 15 Pro Max performed especially well, managing to close the gap with the base iPhone 15. The report notes that in general, sales of Apple devices decreased slightly due to an increase in shipments of Samsung smartphones. The dominance of last year’s models in the third quarter is understandable, since new smartphones went on sale at the very end of the three-month period. In addition, in many markets, consumers are looking for a compromise between the technical characteristics and cost of devices, which is why the choice is often made in favor of last year’s models.
