The South Korean publication EBN News shared information about the release dates for the addition to the action role-playing game Lies of P and the next project of its developers from Round8 Studio (owned by the Neowiz publishing house).
According to EBN News, the previously confirmed story addon for Lies of P will not be released in the second half of 2024, as stated in Neowiz’s May financial report, but only in the first quarter of 2025.
Development lead Jiwon Choi insisted in September that “with the DLC and the sequel to Lies of P,” the team is aiming to surpass the original game in every way, but it doesn’t look like a sequel will be Round8 Studio’s next project.
EBN News, citing vacancies at Round8 Studio, reports that the team’s next project will be a sci-fi survival horror. The game is created on the Unreal Engine 5 for PC and consoles.
A Neowiz representative declined to comment to EBN News about the project’s development progress, noting that it is “one of the PC and console games that Round8 Studio is currently preparing.”
Lies of P was released in September 2023 on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. The game is an action game in the style of Dark Souls based on the fairy tale “The Adventures of Pinocchio”. The project’s audience exceeds 7 million people.
The ending of Lies of P hinted (spoiler alert) at continuing the story in an unexpected direction. Dorothy from the book “The Wizard of Oz” by American writer Lyman Frank Baum appeared in the final scene of the game.
