Tesla has equipped its humanoid robot Optimus with new arms – they are more advanced in design and allow for new operations. Previously, they decided to make robotic limbs a new auxiliary tool for patients of Elon Musk’s company Neuralink.
A comic post appeared on the Tesla Optimus page on social network X: “I got a new hand for Black Friday.” The message was accompanied by a short video demonstrating what the new limb is capable of: the robot effectively catches tennis balls with it. In May of this year, Mr. Musk promised that Tesla would upgrade Optimus’s arms, which would receive 22 degrees of freedom – for comparison, human hands have 27.

The company showed off the new Optimus hands almost immediately after the Musk-owned company announced that it had received permission from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to implement a new project, codenamed Convoy: the N1 brain implant will be used to control limbs robot Optimus. This will allow cross-registration of participants in the Convoy and Prime projects. As part of Project Prime, two volunteers were implanted with N1 chips, which allow them to control electronic devices using the power of thought.
